In the context of Nepal, the overall status of women is lower than that of men. Women, in general have not been able to take part in decision making process at any level and the leadership role of women in domestic as well as public sphere is very weak.
In tune with the main goal of capacity building and leadership development of women in rural Nepal, MSBKN has implemented "women leadership" in 12 districts of Nepal. These districts consist of networks of volunteer women committed to the cause of MSBKN Nepal . The activities implemented by MSBKN Nepal have focused on socio-political and economic empowerment of poor rural women in Nepal. The empowerment activities consisted of training and exposure visits as well as support for Economic Empowerment Program.

A SPECIAL TRAINING PACKAGE DEVELOPED FOR THE 'POTENTIAL WOMEN LEADERS (PWL)' IN THE COMMUNITY ARE:
- Orientation program for selected 'Potential Women Leaders'.
- Interaction with family members of PWLs.
- Experience sharing with women leaders from local level.
- 'Leadership Development training'.
- 'Training on "Civic Education, Good governance and Women's Rights'
- 'Eloquence Preparation and Competition'
The women from the community have been taken for exposure visits to different districts, to learn from other exemplary women groups. Economic Empowerment Program (EEP) support has been targeted to the needy and marginalized women for economic well-being. Both collective and individual EEP activities are running at present in all 12 working districts through different income generating activities such as goat/pig raising, vegetable farming, tailoring, production of hand made paper (lokta) , nutrella, candle and incense making, Jhilinga, Chiraito etc.
